While earning her Ph.D. at the University of Southern Mississippi in
Hattiesburg she provided home-based early intervention for
children with developmental delays and their families. She believes
in the process of educating all children through exploration and
discovery. Dr, Willis can design a workshop, keynote or training

Clarissa Willis is currently an author, consultant and professional
development specialist living in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She
has presented workshops, keynote addresses, and teacher trainings
around the country including Alaska. Formerly, the Associate Director
of the Center of Excellence in Early Childhood Learning and
Development at East Tennessee State University, she directed such
projects as Tennessee's Early Intervention System Technical
Assistance Project , The East Tennessee Autism Training Project, The
Tennessee Preschool Literacy Project, and Expanding Horizons Early
Intervention Project.
She is the author of the award winning
book,
Teaching Young Children with Autism
Spectrum Disorder
(Gryphon House) and
co-author with Dr. Pam Schiller of
Inclusive
Literacy Lessons. Her latest book, Inclusive
Environments for Young Children
was just
released by Corwin Press.

Clarissa worked over twenty years in public
schools, child development centers, and
as a speech pathologist.
